New list of in-demand occupations of Quebec

The Quebec Ministry of Immigration has begun to introduce innovations that will help the government correctly determine the correspondence between the needs of the labor market and candidates willing to immigrate to Quebec. This time, the news relates to those who plan to apply to Quebec as a foreign worker, or rather those employers who will hire foreign workers to work in Quebec through the LMIA procedure (Labor Market Impact  Assessement).

As you know, the LMIA procedure is not simple and less painful if a foreign worker belongs to one of the in-demand professions. The list of popular professions in Quebec changes annually, here is the latest news by this hour: a few days ago a new list of in-demand occupations came out, which will be valid for the whole year of 2019.

The main difference between the new list and all the previous one is that since now the needs of the market are determined by specific regions. The province of Quebec  is geographically (and economically) divided into 15 regions, here they are: Abitibi-Temiscamingue, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Capitale-Nationale, Center-du-Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches, Côte-Nord, Estrie, Gaspésie – Îles-de -la-Madeleine Lanaudière, Laurentides, Mauricie, Montérégie, Nord-du-Québec, Outaouais, Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean.

The new list of in-demand professions is quite extensive, it contains 35 pages. There are some examples of professions by region:

BAS-SAINT-LAURENT:
– Assistant Secretaries
– Cooks
– Butchers
– Welders
