Fees Increase Update

The Regulations will come into force on April 30, 2020, at 09:00 am eastern daylight time. The Regulations are amended such that Starting in 2020-21, permanent resident processing fees for Economic class applicants increase as follows: Fees for principal applicants of the Economic business class (including self-employed, start-up visa, Quebec investor, Quebec entrepreneur, and Quebec self-employed) will increase from $1,050 to $1,575 (an increase of 50%). Parents will be exempt from the travel restrictions and will be permitted to travel to Canada

The definition of immediate family members set out in the Interim Order no.2 related to travel restrictions, has been recently expanded to include parents and step-parents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Practically it means that during the COVID-19 travel restriction policy parents and step-parents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents will be exempt from the travel restrictions and will be permitted to travel to Canada if they have the required travel documents.
