Minister Mendicino announces the coming into force of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants Act
We are pleased to announce an important milestone in the development of our profession as immigration consultants. The government of Canada has proclaimed the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council to formally transition to become the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, which will equip the new authority with enhanced powers to regulate the immigration consulting profession in the public interest, including legal ability to pursue unlicensed immigration consultants who provide immigration advice without authorization and take advantage of vulnerable people. Supported by the government, we will be able to better protect newcomers and applicants to Canada from fraudulent activity of “ghost consultants”.
